Who is ASPEL for?

The Association for Professional and Executive Learning - ASPEL - has a broad and ambitious vision: to be the Learning Professional's association of choice. The Association is for all those involved in learning and development at professional and executive levels:

  • Chief Learning Officers
  • Learning Executives
  • Talent Managers
  • Academics
  • Executive Development providers
  • Consultants in learning and development
  • Coaches and Mentors
In order to accomplish our vision, we combine the benefits arising from membership of an association with the benefits of a web-based professional network:

Information & Resources - The Knowledge Base

Within this portal, we provide a wide range of resources so that professionals can find whatever they need to conduct their work, keep up to date, and gain knowledge all in one place. Experienced members are encouraged to upload their favourite articles, training materials, links and suggestions. Recent arrivals to the profession can get a flying start and access the information they need when they need it.

The Knowledge Base, which is accessible to members only, comprises:
  1. The Body of Knowledge, a wiki-based collection of  descriptions and explanations for quick reference
  2. A list of Related Links so that you can find other directories, associations and resources quickly and easily

  3. Pre-selected book titles, organised for quick and easy browsing of resources

  4. A Document Library which acts as a repository of useful and interesting resources, including learning activities

The Directories

We are developing the most comprehensive database of learning providers in the world. Our Country Directors enter publicly-available information of every company involved in Learning & Development in their respective areas. This enables training managers and executives to see a wide range of providers and gives access to their websites (where available) to see more detailed information. Member companies can enter greater detail directly into the ASPEL portal.

There are currently over 1,000 providers listed, and more are added every week.

Additionally, ASPEL provides a matchmaking service to shortlist potential providers or develop tenders and proposals thus improving the efficiency and effectiveness of finding appropriate providers. Depending on the work and time involved, this may entail additional fees. Please contact us if you wish to make use of this service.

Networking and Knowledge-Sharing

ASPEL organizes short Catalyzer Events in different countries so that members can meet each other face-to-face, share their expertise and develop their networks. These are advertised in the weekly updates.

Additionally, there is a members-only forum area, where members can post questions, engage in discussions and join communities of interest. Currently, the following Communities of Interest have been established:
  • Coaching & Mentoring
  • E-Learning
  • Organizational Learning
Please feel free to suggest others!

Strategic Partnerships

Through our network of Strategic Partnerships, ASPEL members can gain additional benefits such as discounts, access to support and advice, and assistance in organizing learning events. See our Partners section for up-to-date offers and discounts.

Contributing to the Community

One of our aims is to assist the development of organisations and institutions which could not usually afford high-level learning, and we therefore provide a channel by which such institutions can be matched to professionals who are willing to provide their services at pro-bono or reduced rates. Our intention is to contribute knowledge and skills to the wider community, thus helping to improve the lives of all. We sincerely hope that you will help us achieve these ambitious goals!

Your comments and suggestions are most welcome
